There’s a lot here that leans more towards the cinematography found in dramas (close shots with characters, low cameras aimed up to give a sense of power, etc), and it’s used well to address the toxic chemistry between the three friends. As far as presentation goes, well, in an odd way it reminded me of the recent Netflix adaptation of A Series of Unfortunate Events. It’s not often that solid cinematography is in such an isolated setting, and making the ocean an antagonist goes a long way towards making everything as surprising a ride as possible. There’s some solid production value here and everything looks great. I mean, being stranded at sea could only be worse if they were just left floating and surrounded by hungry sharks. From there, we get to learn each character’s true nature and figure out all their shocking secrets, and it’s quite a gripping journey, with each secret setting up yet another tension-filled scene between the three characters. For an indie effort, it looks great. Three friends on a yacht find themselves in a perilous situation when they become stranded.Things only get worse when treacherous secrets are revealed.-The tl dr Review:Well, okay, I have to say that I don’t think this is a horror film. That said, Harpoon is still a great time, with a mix of comedy and thrills to keep you entertained, and the chemistry between the three characters works well enough. It’s also bloody and shocking enough to appeal to those who have a bit of a dark sense of humour.-The Full review:There’s quite a lot here that I’m going to try to unpack, but it’s going to take me just a bit longer than usual, if that makes sense.SO with Harpoon the situation is pretty simple:Three friends are on a boat and have to figure out how they’re going to get out of an ever-worsening situation.
